Pastoral Care

Carolyn Lanoux, Chairperson

HOMEBOUND MINISTRY
Coordinator: Rosa Schoolmeyer

Mission:  The faith-filled members of Most Holy Trinity Parish Homebound Ministry are committed to minister to those parishioners who are temporarily or permanently confined to their homes due to age, illness, or disability; by bringing to them the Eucharist and assisting in their other needs where possible, thereby bringing them comfort and a feeling of connection to our faith community.

These ministers are also available to serve homebound parishioners by running errands for them, transporting them to doctors, picking up their medicine and groceries, and in some instances, providing transportation to and from Sunday masses.

Each week as they make their visits, the ministers provide a list of parishioners for whom prayers have been requested, inviting homebound to take part in their important activity, thus enabling them to feel involved in the parish.

During Lent, our parish priests make visits to the homebound and are available at other times as needed.

HOSPITAL/NURSING HOME MINISTRY
Coordinator: Cathy Oglesby

Like the Homebound Ministry, the Hospital/Nursing Home Ministry brings the joy and presence of the Lord in the Eucharist to our parishioners and other Catholics who are temporarily hospitalized or are in nursing homes/assisted care facilities.  It is their hope that this ministry shows the presence and support of the local faith community to the residents.

VOLUNTEERS
Coordinator: Marilyn Schoen

Volunteer ministries are the heart of the church.  It is through involvement and service that we discover and share the best we have to give.  It’s what brings our theology to life.  It’s how we recognize Christ in others and ourselves.

The roots of volunteer service are deeply embedded in our Christian heritage.  In 1 Peter 4:10, we read, “God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings.”

In serving, we respond to God according to our values, beliefs, knowledge, and compassion.  In the words of Dean Stanley, “The true calling of Christian is not to do extraordinary things, but to do ordinary things in an extraordinary way.”

PARISH ACTIVITIES

  • MOST HOLY TRINITY FEAST DAY CELEBRATION
  • FEAST DAY MASS
On the Feast Day of the Most Holy Trinity a special Mass is celebrated.
  • PARISH PICNIC
This is a free annual social event for all parishioners sponsored by the Men and Ladies Clubs with the support and involvement of all the parish ministries.
The picnic menu includes BBQ hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, chips, and desserts.  Parishioners donate desserts.  The event which usually begins immediately following the Mass includes an inflated space-walk for the kids.  Lunch is served until 1:00 p.m. (or until the food runs out).  Fun activities are all part of this family day of fun.
  • GOLF TOURNAMENTS
Sponsor:  Knights of Columbus Most Holy Trinity Council 14614
The Knights of Columbus Council 14614 sponsors a spring Golf Tournament.  Tournament fee includes green fee, cart, good, beverage and prizes.  More details will be announced in the parish bulletin.
  • BLOOD AND ORGAN DRIVE
    Director:  Lucille Lorio
Drives are sponsored twice a year on a Sunday during the spring and fall to assist the Blood Center of Southeast Louisiana, Inc. and Ochsner Blood Bank in providing blood for our area.  If a sufficient number of donors give blood, our parish will receive blood coverage for all registered members. A healthy person between the ages of 17 and 66 may donate.  By donating blood you can perform a lifesaving act.
  • VOLUNTEERS
The Lord has work for you!
Countless persons have contributed to our formation in ways that are not always obvious.  Think, for instance, of the many church members who volunteered their time and talent to serve their church.  Parents, grandparents, relatives, neighbors, friends, church members – all are the means that God uses to make faith and hope and love come alive and grow in the hearts of people.  You are called to do for them what others once did for you.
